30th of August is Victory’s day in Turkey


30th of August is Victory’s day in Turkey, the liberation’s s day from foreign invaders. This day has this signification because on 15th of May 1919 the Greek troops landed next to Izmir and occupied the west of Turkey, Italian troops landed in Antalya, French invaded in the south-east, Turkish troops were forced to resist. In the history of Turkey is referred as a “Turkish War of Independence” with general Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. 26th of August 1922 began the most important battle, which was finished on 30th of August. This day was named the Victory’s Day.
Alanya’s Municipality and town Council today held a meeting to discuss about organization of Victory’s Day in Alanya. 30th of August at 20.00 o’clock in the Cultural Center of Alanya will be presented a concert of musical groups. The historical events will be shown at the big screen. People have to remember that day’s events and honor the memory of victims.
