Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told out of suicide a man who wanted to jump off the 64-meter Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, on Friday informed the government Turkish news agency Anadolu.
The incident happened while the presidential motorcade was going on the bridge. After the President and his guards saw the police who tried to stop the man from a suicidal attempt, the motorcade came to a halt, writes local newspaper Daily Sabah.
Then Erdogan sent his guards to a potential suicide to tell that the president would like to see him.
“The man, obviously, didn’t expect to meet with the president face to face, that’s why obeyed and walked to the car. According to Turkish tradition, he kissed the hand of the president as a sign of respect,” – writes Daily Sabah.
The man spoke with the president, who persuaded him stopping the suicidal attempt, then Erdogan has promised to help him.
According to Anadolu, two Bosphorus Bridges in Istanbul are a popular place to commit suicide. Every year, dozens of people jump off. The last such incident occurred on 6th of December.
