Istanbul is on the 9th and Antalya – on the 11th place among the most popular tourist cities in the world, according to the rating «Top 100 City Destinations», compiled by Euromonitor. The main indicator for the drawing up of a rating is the number of tourists visiting this or that city in 2014.
One more Turkish Black sea side city Artvin finish out the list of 100 tourist towns.
According to analysts, the number of tourists in Antalya and Istanbul has increased despite the difficult geopolitical situation in the region.
The first position in the ranking this year as well as during the previous five years belongs to Hong Kong
Second place went to London and the third to Singapore.
In addition to the usual tourists, Istanbul is more often visited by foreigners who come here for business as the city is the economic center of Turkey.
Antalya in 2014 attracted 11.1 million tourists. In 2015, the number of tourists has weakened because of the outflow of Russians.
On the 100-th place in the ranking is Artvin. It was visited by 1.8 million tourists.
Istanbul has climbed two places up in the ranking. This gave it the opportunity to get into the top ten tourist destinations in the world. In 2014 the city was visited by 11.8 million tourists, which is 13.2% more than the year before. The increase was primarily due to the Arab tourists.
