On 15th of November in Alanya, in Mahmutlar, the opening and consecration of the Orthodox Church in honor of Virgin Pisidia’s icon.
It is the historical event in Alanya, because it is unique Orthodox church, which was built and consecrated at the present time.
Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomei consecrated the church. Delegations from Greece, South Korea and other countries took a part at the church’s consecration. Muslims built a temple, it appertains to the Greek Orthodox Church, donations for the construction were get from various religious denominations. It means that religion does not have metes and bounds. It does not matter what type of religion a person had and in which country lived, the faith unites everyone.
By cause of the arrival of Patriarch Vartholomei and many foreign guests, the security was increased. On the way to the temple, a few meters from Mahmutlar was armed police post. Around the temple there were special forces soldiers.
The Alanya’s mayor and the governor, Mahmutlar’s authority took a part at the opening of Church. It means that the Alanya’s authorities worry about the needs of foreigners. At present in Alanya, in the Orthodox church in honor of Virgin Pisidia’s icon will be regularly held the church-office, where every Orthodox resident could come.
This event in Alanya should be as an example for all the world.
At the opening were about 15 mass media, that is why the opening of the Orthodox church in Mahmutlar is reported extensively. Although the Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomei, the mayor Adem Murat Yujel and Governor Hasan Tanrıseven have supposed that the church is mainly built for the Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians who live in Alanya, but the faithful from many countries will go there. Nowadays in Alanya there are people who have 78 different nationalities.
