The Qatar’s Embassy in Turkey informed that gas in the required quantities will be supplied to Turkey from Qatar. An agreement on supply of liquefied natural gas to Turkey was signed by representatives of the countries in the amount of 1.2 billion.
According to the Ambassador of Qatar in Turkey Salim Myubarek, Qatar supports Turkey because considers this country as a fraternal and is ready to deliver a liquefied natural gas in required quantities.
As the Ambassador said, after the an official visit of Turkish president in Qatar, the relations between the two countries have started to develop more intensively. As a brotherly country, Qatar is going to support Turkey in energy sector, and also in all other areas.
It is important to recall that the information that the gas from Qatar on a long term condition will be imported to Turkey, appeared on December – an agreement was signed by the Turkish President and the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during a visit of the Turkish leader in Qatar. The signing of this agreement opens a long-term perspective for the import of liquefied natural gas to Turkey from Qatar, because up to now the gas is supplied to Turkey from Qatar due to the short-term agreements between the countries.
Last year, 47.6 billion cubic meters of gas were imported to the Turkish state, including 60% of the Russian gas. 27.4 billion cubic meters of gas were imported to Turkey by “Gazprom”.
