Turkey much earlier than Europe had to except refugees from Iraq and Syria. In the country since the conflict 30 camps have been established for migrants. Most of them live in the Turkish cities. Since the conflict has been begun Turkey started receiving constantly Syrian refugees. Checkpoints in the border cities – such as Hatay, Sanliurfa and Gaziantep, – were opened to everybody who wished to move to Turkish territory.
In border cities set up tent camps for refugee but most of the migrants have preferred to move to the big cities, such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir because there are a lot of job and good conditions. After the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (LIH) attacked Iraq and Syria, the stream of refugees has really increased. The President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that from the conflict’s beginning in Syria and in Iraq, Turkey has received more than 2 million refugees, that includes about 300 thousand Iraqis.
In all that time, Turkey has spent $ 6.5 billion on their living on this territory and received approximately $ 400 million as an aid from different countries and organizations.
