Turkey shot down Russian Su-24, flying from Syria

Turkish General Staff reported that two fighters F-16 (Turkish air forces) shot down a military plane, which incurred into the country's airspace.

On 24th of November at the Turkish border, a military plane crashed: was fired in the air and fell down. Turkish General Staff reported that two fighters F-16 (Turkish air forces) shot down a military plane on the border with Syria, which incurred into the country’s airspace. The Russian Defense’s Ministry confirmed the Russian air group plane crash “Su-24” in Syria. NATO convenes urgent meeting to discuss the crash. The Kremlin said that happened event is a “serious accident”.

“On the Syrian territory, supposedly by cause of the gunfire from the ground, the Russian air group plane crashed,” – reported TASS of the Russian Defense’s Ministry.

According to the ministry, “Su-24” was over Syria, and did not incurred into the Turkish airspace, it is fixed by special equipment. According to the Defense’s Ministry, the aircraft was at an altitude of 6000 meters.

As per the Turkish General Staff, on 24th of November the military plane incurred into the the country’s airspace ten times in five minutes, before the shooting down crew was warned. Turkish military didn’t specify that the downed plane was Russian.

According to preliminary information from the Russian Defense’s Ministry, the pilots managed to catapult, it is clarified where they are by the moment.

Broadcaster CNN Turk, referring to some sources, reported that one of the pilots of the Russian aircraft was killed. The second pilot, in compliance with the TV channel, fell into the hands of the Syrian Turkmen’s armed forces.

It is important to recall that after the bombing by the Russian Air Force of Syrian rebels’ locations and civilian targets in Syria, Turkey announced that will shoot down military planes incurred the Turkish airspace.
