Illegal oil trade has been done before the appearance of IS- in peaceful time.
The Turkish authorities are not engaged in the oil business with a terrorist organization “Islamic State”, but there are groups which are involved. It was informed by ex-Turkish Embassador in Iraq and the UK Unal Chevikoz.
“It is not government policy. The different organizations could be involved in smuggling, and it has always been a fact” – cited by agency Sputnik.
However, Chevikoz accepted the fact that illegal oil trade has been done before the appearance of IS- in peaceful time.
At the same time the ex-ambassador said that the Turkish government knows about this fact, but can not cope with it.
Also, he hopes that after the incident with the Russian Su-24 bombers, the volume of smuggling will be reduced. “the Syrian-Turkish border are surveilled by Russian planes, so it will be very difficult to continue the smuggling” – made a conclusion Chevikoz.
Meanwhile, Turkey has refused to close the border with Syria. Davutoglu said, in order to close the border, Turkey needs to put more than 30 thousand soldiers and set watchtowers every three meters.
